Dynamische Meteorologie ist die Lehre von der Natur
und den Ursachen der Bewegung in der Atmosphäre. Sie
teilt sich auf in Kinematik und Dynamik im engeren Sinne

VI.1.3 Stromlinien und Trajektorien
• Stromlinien sind Momentaufnahmen eines
Geschwindigkeitsfeldes. An jedem Punkt bewegt sich zu diesem Zeitpunkt die Luft parallel zu den Stromlinien.
• Trajektorien repräsentieren den Weg eines Teilchens über
eine Zeitspanne

Stromlinien über Westafrika
Eine Stromlinie ist eine Kurve, deren
Tangente an jedem Punkt die Richtung des Geschwindig- keitsvektors angibt.
Die Tangente y(x) ist definiert durch tan(α) = dy/dx|

Trajektorien verfolgen den Weg eines Teilchens mit der Zeit, sind also in der Fläche gegeben durch x(t) und y(t).
Die Abbildung zeigt Rückwärtstrajektorien für verschiedene Zeiten für das
Reaktorunglück bei Tschernobyl am 26.4.1986.
Trajektorien berechnet man also durch Integration des Weges (x,y) von
Luftpartikeln über die Zeit:

Die Trajektorie beschreibt auch eine Welle, allerdings mit einer größere Amplitude und einer längeren Wellenlänge als die
Stromlinie, da c und U in die gleiche Richtung gehen und c<U.
In der Abbildung wurden x und y mit der Wellenläng λ normiert (→x‘, y‘) und U=A und c=0,3U gesetzt.

Die gestrichelten Kurven geben das Stromlinienfeld wieder; die Windrichtung ist
parallel zur Tangente an diese. Das Stromlinienfeld wandert mit der Zeit nach
rechts. Die durchgezogene Kurve gibt eine Trajektorie wieder; zu jeder Zeit ist die
Bewegung parallel zu den jeweiligen Stromlinien. Das Partikel bewegt sich in
dem Beispiel schneller als das Stromlinenfeld.
