What are the dangers of abdominal fat?
Which diet works best? How much meat is good for my health? Why do we love sweets? May we visit DIfE? May we print the German Diabetes Risk Score in our magazine? Do you have an expert on functional foods?
These are just a few of the more than 2,500 questions addressed to the office of Press and Public Relations in the past two years. We answered these ques-tions ourselves or referred them to DIfE experts. A prominent media presence resulted from numerous interviews and background discussions in this context. DIfE and its staff were involved in 176 radio and TV broadcasts and nearly 3,440 citations in international newspaper, internet, and magazine articles. An excerpt of our media pres-ence is shown on pages 80 and 81.
A highlight of our public relations work was our participation in 2010 as one of the finalists of the audience award “Interactive Science” within the framework of the Science Summer in Magdeburg. This prize is sponsored by
“Science in Dialogue” (WID) and the
“Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft” to strengthen the cooperation between scientists and public relations professionals. We designed interactive exhibits on
“Nutrition and Energy” especially for Science Year 2010: The Future of Energy.
We successfully presented the research of DIfE at many other events as well. We are very grateful for the strong commitment of our colleagues who made it all possible.
