UPOV No Characteristics State of expression Note

Pastor is the first variety of red clover which is especially bred for the use in pastures. Pastor combines the prostrate growth habit and the tolerance for grazing of wild clover from Jurassic pastures with the potential yield and the persistence of Swiss Mattenklee type.

Even though, Pastor doesn’t reach the performance of the best varieties under cutting, the yield of fodder is not considerably less in comparison to conventional Mattenklee.

Under grazing conditions, Pastor is able to maintain a high proportion in the crop.

In comparison to white clover, the proportion of clover in pastures with Pastor is more stable over time.
