EQ 3.1 Equation: x + (x – 3) + (x – 6) = 333; x = 114. The largest number is 114.
EQ 3.2 Equation: + x + (x + 9) = 18 · 3; x = 18 The numbers are 9, 18, 27.
EQ 3.3 Equation: x + 10 = 2 (x – 10); x = 30. John has 30 CDs.
EQ 3.4 Equation: x + 3 = 2 (x – 1); x = 5. There were 10 employees at the first time.
EQ 3.5 Equation: a) x + (x + 2) + (x + 4) = 4x; x = 6. The three numbers are 6, 8 and 10.
b) x + (x + 2) + (x + 4) = 6x; x = 2. The three numbers are 2, 4 and 6.
EQ 3.6 Equation: x + (x + 9) + (x + 18) = 108; x = 27. The three numbers are 27, 36 and 45.
EQ 3.7 Equation: (2x + x + 6) · 2 = 96; x = 14. The square has an area of 196 cm
2. EQ 3.8 Equation: 2b – = 15; b = 10. Betty watches TV 10 hours a week.
EQ 3.9 Equation: 21 – (8 – x) = 15; x = 2. The number is 2.
EQ 3.10 Equation: 3x + 20 = 5x; x = 10. The number is 10.
