Den Auftakt im Jahr 2011 macht ein Symposion, das in Zu-sammenarbeit von Prof. Dr. Johan Leemans(Fellow) und Prof.
Dr. Peter Gemeinhardt(Assoziierter) entwickelt wird. Es wid-met sich den Märtyrern in der Spätantike und wird vom 22.-24. Februar 2011stattfinden.
Fellow Prof. Zlatko Pleše, Ph.D.and his colleague Prof. Dr.
Armin Lange (Vienna) will hold a one-day symposium on 12 April 2011. The symposium on Transpositional Hermeneu-tics in Antiquityexplores the structure and function of an in-terpretative procedure, widely attested in various ancient Me-diterranean cultures, which seeks to re-contextualize and rein-terpret the master-narratives of its specific culture. The sympo-sium aims at identifying and analyzing the particular historical
conditions that give rise to this non-conventional treatment of written re-positories of cultural memory. Subjects covered in-clude ancient Near Eastern and Greek techniques of divina-tion, various forms of Greek philosophical allegoresis, Qumran pesharim, and the methods of biblical exegesis developed in Alexandrian Judaism.
Vom 8. bis 10. Juli 2011wird von Prof. Dr. Rudolf von Sinner (Fellow) ein Symposion mit dem Thema »Der Geist und die Geister. Religiöse und theologische Herausforderungen in Brasilien und Deutschland«veranstaltet.
Vom 4. bis 7. Septemberist ein Symposion zum Thema »The divine Father«von Prof. Dr. Reinhard Feldmeier(Assoziierter) geplant.

Vorschau: Geplante Symposien
Das i.d.R. einmal in der Woche stattfindende Colloquium ge-hört zum »Grundbestand« der wissenschaftlichen Aktivitäten des Lichtenberg-Kollegs. Diese Zusammenkunft – vorwiegend von Fellows und Assoziierten, vereinzelt unter Beteiligung wei-terer Gäste – dient einem kontinuierlichen wissenschaftlichen Austausch der am Lichtenberg-Kolleg tätigen Forscherinnen und Forscher über ihre Forschungsthemen. Nach einer kurzen Einführung in die Problematik werden die Fragestellung, ihre Besonderheiten und ihre Verortung im jeweiligen Forschungs-feld deutlich gemacht. In der Diskussion sollen die Beiträge auch aus Sicht anderer Disziplinen zu einer Weiterentwicklung der Lösungsansätze inspirieren.
The colloquium, a regular weekly event, is a ›core item‹ on the Lichtenberg-Kolleg agenda of scholarly activities. This gathering – involving primarily Fellows and Associates but with the oc-casional participation of further guests – is designed to facilitate an ongoing academic exchange among the researchers active at the Lichtenberg-Kolleg, with respect to their research topics.
Following a short introduction into the research problem, the question at issue, its specific nature, and its position within the scope of the research field concerned are presented. In the course of the discussion, contributions made also from the per-spective of other disciplines are intended to provide inspiration for the further development of solutions.

Mit öffentlichen Vorträgen will das Lichtenberg-Kolleg das In-teresse der Göttinger Öffentlichkeit insgesamt an den Arbeiten und Projekten im Lichtenberg-Kolleg wecken. Herausragende Wissenschaftler tragen hier in einer für die Allgemeinheit ver-ständlichen Sprache zu aktuellen oder aus anderen Gründen besonders interessanten Themen vor. Im Anschluss an den Vor-trag besteht Gelegenheit zu Fragen und Diskussionen. Die Ver-anstaltungen werden durch Plakate und Ankündigungen auf der Homepage der Universität und des Lichtenberg-Kollegs be-kannt gemacht.
Public lectures hosted by the Lichtenberg-Kolleg are designed to spark interest among the general public in Göttingen in the work and projects pursued at the LichtenbergKolleg. Outstand -ing scholars speak on topics of particular current relevance, or which are especially interesting on other grounds, in language that can be readily understood by non-experts. The lectures are followed by an opportunity for questions and discussion.
These events are advertised by way of posters and announce-ments on the University and Lichtenberg-Kolleg homepages.
