Climate-Fact-Sheets – Updated Version 2015 - terms of use March 2016

Preamble

The Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht - Zentrum für Material- und Küstenforschung GmbH (HZG) is one of 18 members of the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres, Germany’s largest science organization. HZG is engaged in the fields of materials and coastal research. In 2009 the Climate Service Center Germany (GERICS) was initiated at HZG by the German Federal Government as part of the German hightech-strategy for climate protection. GERICS offers in a scientifically sound manner products, advisory services and decision-relevant information - e.g. Climate-Fact-Sheets - in order to support government, administration and business in their efforts to adapt to climate change. It builds up a national and international network structure in order to integrate existing competences and knowledge, and to link various actors within the complex area of climate change, e.g.

climate researchers and advisors in the field of climate change.

I. Rights of Use

1. HZG grants the orderer the simple, non-commercial, non-exclusive and non-

transferable right to use the Climate-Fact-Sheets. The Climate-Fact-Sheets must not be disclosed to any third parties.

2. For documentation purposes the work areas in which the requested Climate-Fact- Sheets are planned to be used (purpose of use) shall be specified according to the queries in the order form.

This shall be done as follows: „from Climate-Fact-Sheets, Updated Version 2015; Country XYZ; Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht Zentrum für Material-und Küstenforschung GmbH, GERICS, date of issue of the Climate-Fact-Sheet“.

II. Liability

1. The contents of the Climate Fact Sheets and the underlying data were processed and carefully checked according to the current state of science and technology. HZG did not generate the data on which the Climate Fact Sheets are based on. The used data was downloaded and processed from public archives of various and relevant

international research projects (e.g. global climate change projections data from CMIP5 and CMIP3 - more information at http://cmip-pcmdi.llnl.gov; regional climate change projections from ENSEMBLES - more information www.ensembles-eu.org and). Additionally different literature sources as listed in the specific Climate-Fact-
