Fact Sheet

DUS test conducted at Scharnhorst, BSA (DE), 1999-2000

UPOV No Characteristics State of expression Note

ARVICOLA emerged from the very early breeding material of the type ARION treated with colchicine. The tetraploid condition allows an important enhancement of the resistance to snow mould diseases.ARVICOLA has by far the best aptitude of all available varieties for the cultivation at higher altitudes which are moderately suited for ryegrass. It is just as early ripening as ARION and reaches in the first week of May the time to cut for a

conservation crop of a very good quality. In summer, ARVICOLA does not form any reproductive tillers further on and provides well digestible fodder, rich of leaves.
