The City of Innsbruck has opened certain spots in the inner-city pedestrian zone for street musicians. This folder provides information about where street music is permitted, at what times it is permitted and what requirements must be fulfilled.
The following spots are available
Maria-Theresien-Strasse north of the St. Anne’s Column
in front of Spitalskirche Church (excluding 6:00-7:00 pm because of Holy Mass) in front of the City Tower (Stadtturm)
intersection Kiebachgasse / Seilergasse Franciscan Square (Franziskanerplatz)
Important: If a registered temporary event is taking place in one of these spots, no substitute spot can be made available.
Music-making is permitted
from 1 March to 15 October
Tuesday - Sunday 2:00-3:00 pm, 4:00-5:00 pm, 6:00-7:00 pm (excluding Spitalskirche)
and from 1 June to 1 September also on Friday, Saturday and Sunday:
8:00-9:00 pm

What rules must be heeded:
Since some of the spots are located quite near to other spots, music-making is permitted only with the following instruments:
string instruments, woodwinds, keyboard instruments, didgeridoos, guiros, maracas, rattles are welcome.
No permission can be granted for brass and percussion instruments, i.e. drum sets, bass drums, kettle drums.
Electronic amplifiers, platforms and podiums are prohibited.
Permission is granted for one week to maximum 4 music groups playing at the same time.
A quartett is the maximum size of a music group.
Important: the official written permission must be in the possession of the musicians while playing and must be presented to authorities when requested.
