Asymptoten
Eine Gerade g : y =p(x) =ax +b ist eine Asymptote vonf, wenn f(x)−p(x)→0 f¨ur x → ∞oder x→ −∞.
Besitzt eine Funktion eine Asymptote, so kann ihr Graph f¨ur großex durch die Gerade g approximiert werden.
Beispiel
Asymptoten der Funktion
f(x) = x+ 1 2 + ex
-2 0 2 4 6
-1 -0.5 0 0.5 1
(i) x→ ∞:
Erweitern mit e−x
x→∞lim f(x) = lim
x→∞
x+ 1
2 + ex = lim
x→∞
(x+ 1)·e−x 2·e−x + 1 = 0
0 + 1 = 0 Asymptote
p(x) = 0 (x−Achse) (ii) x→ −∞:
ex →0 Asymptote
p(x) = x+ 1 2
Asymptoten rationaler Funktionen
Eine rationale Funktion r(x) = p(x)
q(x) = pmxm+pm−1xm−1+· · ·+p0 qnxn+qn−1xn−1+· · ·+q0
hat eine Asymptoteg : y =a(x) =a1x+a0, falls Grad p ≤Gradq+ 1.
Die Abbildung illustriert die verschiedenen m¨oglichen F¨alle.
Gradp <Grad q:
Die x-Achse ist Asymptote:
x→±∞lim r(x) = 0. Gradp = Grad q:
Die rationale Funktion r besitzt eine waagrechte Asymptote a1= 0,a0=pm/qn (m=n).
Gradp = Grad q+ 1:
Es existiert eine lineare Asymptote, die mit Hilfe von Polynomdivision bestimmt werden kann:
p(x)/q(x) = (a1x+a0) + Rest.
Man erh¨alt a1 =pm/qn,a0=pm−1/qn − pmqn−1/qn2 mit m=n+ 1.
Falls Grad p >Gradq+ 1, so besitztr keine Asymptote. Die rationale Funktion w¨achst in diesem Fall mindestens quadratisch f¨urx → ±∞.
