THE HYDE AMENDMENT Congess is ting to force Americans to pay for aborion.
The Hyde Amendment and similar laws have protected taxpayers from funding elecve aboron for 45 years. Now, powerful members of Congress want to take away these laws that both Democrats and Republicans have supported for nearly half a century.
Billions of taxpayer dollars could be used to pay for aboron.
It is crically important for Catholics to send a strong message before Congress moves forward to impose taxpayerͲfunded aboron.

Dear Parishioners,
…. So they said to him, “Sir, give us this bread always.”
Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life;
whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst.”
The painting is by François Millet, (1884) simply titled,
“A woman baking bread” This artist, like Van Gogh, loved to paint the ordinary lives of people. Here is a woman in the kitchen, she is heroic in her stance, she leans back because of the heat of the oven blows out against her face and arms. How many hours every day she must have spent making bread with her
strong arms and intense devotion. She doesn’t have a nice kitchen, it’s dark and austere with a basket on the table waiting to be filled with fresh bread.
In a letter to a friend, Millet wrote concerning his other painting of farmers in the field, almost as a mystic….
“It is impossible to admit that ideas are born when
seeing a man devoted to gaining his bread by the sweat of his brow. Some tell me that I deny the charms of the country. I find much more than charms, – I find infinite glories! … I see the halos of dandelions, and the sun, also, which spreads out beyond the world its glory in the clouds. But I see as well, in the plain, the steaming horses at work, and in a rocky place a man … who tries to straighten himself a moment and breathe. The drama is surrounded by beauty.”
If Millet can see beauty everywhere, let us especially see the greatest Beauty in the Sacred Bread that becomes the Most Holy Body and Blood of our Savior and in the faces of the suffering, the sick, the sinner...
Saint Faustina, who loved to pray before the Blessed Sacrament, once wrote, “ O King of glory, though you hide your beauty, yet the eye of my soul rends the veil. I see the angelic choirs giving you honor without ceasing.”
Pope Benedict XVI, in his Apostolic Exhortation on the Eucharistic celebration, Sacramentum Caritatis, wrote: “The Eucharistic mystery thus gives rise to a service of charity towards neighbor, which consists in the very fact that, in God and with God, I love even the person whom I do not like or even know. This can only take place on the basis of an intimate encounter with God… Then I learn to look on this other person not simply with my eyes and my feelings, but from the perspective of Jesus Christ. In all those I meet, I recognize brothers or sisters for whom the Lord gave his life, loving them ‘to the
end’” (Sacramentum Caritatis, no. 78).
Enjoy the summer days, Fr. David
