ABSTRACT

This thesis deals with the analysis of novels Die Erziehung des Mannes and Die Liebe der Väter. Introductory part analyzes the father role and the role of a man in today's world. Next section offers a brief summary of both novels. Afterwards we inspect the main protagonists and the narrative of the two stories. Both novels are written in first person narrative. The main protagonist is the narrator in both cases. The plot is told from male perspective, an important theme of both books is fatherly love. In the summary of the thesis we discuss whether these novels are Bildungsromans. In both books there is a journey motif present. There is some development in relationships and in the main characters as well.
