Georgy Astakhov received his PhD from the Ioffe Institute (Russia) in 2000. He then worked at the Julius-Maximilians-University of Würzburg, Germany as a postdoctoral researcher, academic councilor and academic senior councilor. In 2017, Dr. Astakhov obtained habilitation and served as a lecturer.
Since 2018, Dr. Astakhov is a senior scientist in the Institute of Ion Beam Physics Materials Research of the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden- Rossendorf (Germany) and leads research group Quantum Materials and Technology. His current interests encompass spin defects for quantum applications and topological states of matter.
