The University of Iowa’s School of Art and Art History seeks applications for a 50% Visiting Assis- tant Professor of Art History for the 2021-22 academic year. The position receives full benefits.

The successful candidate will teach two courses each semester: a large survey course of African art supported by teaching assistants and a small upper-division course. The University of Iowa’s Stanley Museum of Art holds one of the country's finest and most well-respected collections of African art, making it one of the best teaching and research collections of African art in the world.

Required qualifications: Candidates must have received a Ph.D. in Art History with a specialty in African art by August 20, 2021.

Desirable Qualifications: A specialty in sub-Saharan African art, the ability to teach broadly in the field of African art and prior university-level teaching experience.
