The University of Texas at Dallas Application deadline: Jan 6, 2022 www.utdallas.edu/arthistory Cyndi Haynes

Professor - Edith O'Donnell Distinguished Chair in Art History

The School of Arts and Humanities and the Edith O'Donnell Institute of Art History at The Universi- ty of Texas at Dallas seek to fill an Edith O'Donnell Distinguished Chair in Art History at the rank of Full Professor. The Institute is interested in qualified applicants whose work complements that of its current faculty and who will contribute to its growth and the development of its PhD program in Art History. While the area of expertise is open, we especially welcome applications from senior scholars with a specialization in the arts of Asia, South Asia, and Latin America. The Institute also encourages applications from scholars whose research and teaching demonstrate a record of engagement with digital humanities and/or scientific approaches to the study of art, architecture, and cultural heritage. The Chair includes a generous annual research stipend and support for PhD students. Starting with a founding gift from the late Edith O'Donnell in fall 2014, the Edith O'Don- nell Institute of Art History now operates with an endowment of $30,000,000. In just six years, it has grown into a center for innovative research and education that embraces the study of art and architecture across geography, chronology, and medium. The first art history research institute founded in the digital age, the O'Donnell Institute also explores the intersection between the visual arts and the sciences and technology.

Much of our research, teaching, and scholarly programming involves collaborations with muse- ums in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and includes a research center at the Dallas Museum of Art. We maintain an agreement with the Museo e Real Bosco di Capodimonte in Naples to house our Cen- ter for the Art and Architectural History of Port Cities. Our partnership with Nanjing University in China created the Institute for the Study of American Art in China (ISAAC), which occupies the Pearl Buck house in Nanjing. The O'Donnell Institute is also closely involved with the Crow Muse- um of Asian Art, a recent gift to UT Dallas.

We encourage interested applicants to visit our website at: https://www.utdallas.edu/arthistory.
