2 a Read the text and mark the most important information.

Britain’s Got Talent

Britain‘s Got Talent (BGT) is a British television talent show. It is a reality TV competition which was first broadcasted in June 2007. Many young people and families watch it for entertainment every Saturday. Anyone of any age with some sort of talent can take part in the show, which is broadcast on ITV.

The concept is simple: Different acts compete against each other. Every person can show his or her personal talent, whether it is dancing, singing, acting, doing magic tricks or knitting (stricken). You just have to be really good at it and perform well.

In order to win the show the performer has to win over the audience’s support.

He or she will be awarded the title „The winner of Britain‘s Got Talent‘‘.

Every performer has to show up at auditions in front of judges from the entertainment business. If successful the artist will finally make it to the last show which is broadcasted live throughout Britain.

Interestingly enough not only singers have won the show. Some of the winners were street dancers, a gymnastic troupe, a dancing dog, a shadow theatre group, a canine (Hunde-) freestyle act and a magician. The winner is not only awarded the title „The winner of Britain‘s Got Talent‘‘ and a cash prize of £250,000, but he or she is also given the chance to perform and show his talent in the Royal Variety Performance, a British TV variety show.

And if the winner is really lucky, members of the British Royal Family might be present at his or her performance, too.
