The Fakultät für Elektrotechnik und Informationstechnik der Technischen Universität Wien invites applications at the Institute for Solid State Electronics for a Laufbahnstelle für einen/e Assistenten/in with qualification agreement in the area of

Epitaxy of Advanced Optoelectronic Nanostructures

in form of an initially fixed-term (6 years) tenure track position starting from 01.07.2015 with the possibility of promotion to a permanent position as Associate Professor after a positive tenure evaluation.

Main research areas are the design, growth, and characterization of III-V nanostructures based on arsenides and antimonides to be used for intersubband devices: QWIPs, QDIPs, THz and MIR QCLs, with a strong focus on the optimization of quantum cascade structures and intersubband detectors. In addition, novel approaches for low dimensional epitaxial layers (nano wires, quantum dots) and the implementation into electronic and optoelectronic devices.

The successful candidate is expected to initiate independent, creative research programs and to establish his/her own research group.

The following requirements for applications to this position exist. The successful candidate is expected to be an internationally recognized scientist with a PhD relevant to the field and perennial experience in one or several of the following research areas:

• epitaxial growth of quantum cascade lasers (MIR and THz),

• epitaxial growth of arsenides and antimonides,

• molecular beam epitaxy of QWs, QDs, and NWs based on As and Sb compounds.

As well as experience and commitment to excellence in teaching and supervision of undergraduate, graduate and PhD students.

Salaries and benefits of the tenure track position are according to collective labor agreement for employees at universities, salary group B1, based on 40 hours per week, and a salary of currently EUR 49.644,00 per year. After signature of the qualification agreement salaries and benefits are raised to salary group A2 with EUR 58.709,00 per year.

Applications should include curriculum vitae, list of publications, copies of 5 most relevant publications, list of successful grant applications, and list of teaching experience. Applications should be directed to the Dean of the Fakultät Elektrotechnik und Informationstechnik, TU Wien, Erzherzog Johann Platz 1, 1040 Wien, Austria. Electronic applications with all documents in a single file to dekan.etit@tuwien.ac.at.

Application deadline 1.4.2015.

Candidates are not eligible for a refund of expenses for travelling and lodging related to the application process.
