Tutor History of Decorative Arts/Design (V&A/RCA London)

David Crowley DEADLINE: 30 April 2004

The Victoria and Albert Museum is seeking a Course Tutor to join its

Research Department in October 2004 to teach students on the V&A/RCA M.A.

Course in the History of Design.

The post arises from the award of a Leverhulme Major Research Fellowship to the Head of Postgraduate Studies at the V&A. The two-year M.A. Course is run jointly by the Museum and the Royal College of Art and is taught by a team of academic staff based in both institutions.

The course tutor will be expected to sustain an active research profile in an appropriate field and to contribute to scholarship throughout the Museum. The course tutor will possess a record of excellence in research on an aspect of design, decorative art, or material culture in Britain, continental Europe, or North America, 1650-1850. Teaching and administrative experience, preferably at post-graduate level, is also essential. An interest in the Museum's holdings and a commitment to working with objects are desirable, as would be a Doctorate.

For further details and an application form, please visit the V&A's website at www.vam.ac.uk and click on 'About Us 'where you will find details and application packs for all current V&A vacancies under 'Job Opportunities '.

Details can also be obtained by sending a postcard, quoting reference CT1 to: Clare Kyle, Personnel Department, Victoria and Albert Museum,

Cromwell Road, South Kensington, London SW7 2RL or e-mail c.kyle@vam.ac.uk

CVs will not be accepted.

The closing date for applications: 30 April 2004.
