Trick or Treat on Halloween
It’s Halloween night . Tom and Lisa are walking from house to house, always ready to say
“Trick or Treat!” and to collect some Halloween candy . After a while they get to a spooky old house . Lisa is scared! But Tom wants to ring the doorbell . He stops because he finds a small letter on the doorstep .
If you want to know what will happen to Lisa and Tom next, start reading at number 1.
1 Tom opens the letter slowly and reads it out loud: “Hello Tom and Lisa! Welcome to this spooky old house! We hid some sweets for you and you two have to find them . But watch out! Some of the residents of this house are really scary! Do you dare to come in and find your sweets? The creatures in the house will help you… If you want to play, start at the big cauldron next to the door and you’ll find the next clue!”
2 The cat says: “Not bad, Tom and Lisa . Obviously, I am a cat, but I’m not small at all . I’m the biggest cat in the neighbourhood and I hate pumpkins . Unfortunately, I don’t have your sweets and I don’t know who does .”
3 The skeleton screeches: “Hello, I’m the skeleton . I love riddles . Have a guess: I gave your sweets to a small, black animal . . . with eight legs… It lives in a web on the second floor… Do you know who it is? If you know, go and ask her!”
If you know what animal it is, find it on the map. If you have no idea, read this word backwards: redips
4 “What a pity! I’m a treasure chest you’re right, but I’m standing under the left window, not the right one . Oops . It seems like I cannot help you,” the treasure chest tells them .
5 The small cauldron says in a low voice: “Wow, you know what cauldrons are? Very good! But I am the small cauldron . I cannot help you . Read the last sentence of your letter again .”
6 “Hello dear little children! You’re very good at maths! Six is correct . That’s me,” the bat squeaks . “I gave all the sweets to my friend the skeleton . Go and find my friend . He’s only bones! I know he can help you to find the sweets!”
7 “Hahahahaha, hello children . I love children to pieces! I’m a witch, but my hair isn’t long at all . It’s short . I cannot help you . Ask the big cauldron again!” the witch with the short hair screams hoarsely .
