Students are able to familiarize themselves with a given topic in the field of financial management by conducting an independent literature review. They are able to work on given questions on their own. Students are able to present their findings in writing in a comprehensible and carefully written term paper. Students will be able to present their findings in comprehensible presentations.

Introductory sources on the seminar topics will be announced in advance of the seminar. Further literature relevant to the topic will be researched independently by the students as part of the seminar work.

The bachelor seminar is dedicated to fundamental problems from the areas of supply chain management, production, logistics and operations research. The students are given tasks which they work on independently according to scientific standards. The results are documented in written assignments and oral presentations. The seminar thus directly prepares students for writing their Bachelor's thesis. Consultations with faculty members serve to ensure the learning success. The presentation of the gained results and the participation in discussion rounds furthermore strengthen the communicative skills of the students.

Module content

The seminar is dedicated to changing topics from the areas of supply chain management, production, logistics and operations research. The specific topics of a seminar are announced separately. In the past, topics have been assigned, for example, to route planning problems or process optimization.

The Bachelor Research Seminar Business Analytics considers basic problems of business analytics, predominantly in application areas from the service domain. The students work independently on assigned research projects according to scientific standards. The results are documented in a written report as well as in an oral presentation.

Thus, this research seminar directly prepares students for the work on the Bachelor thesis. Mentoring from members of the research group aim to ensure the learning success. Finally, presenting the findings and discussing them with other students strengthen the students’ communication skills.

Module content

The research seminar considers a variety of topics from business analytics, including applications of data analysis, simulation modelling, and optimisation. The primary focus will be application areas from the service domain.

Specific topics will be announced for each seminar.

Learning outcome

- Students can immerse themselves in a given topic based on their independently conducted literature research.

- Students are able to tackle a given research task alone or in teams.
