3.2 Modifications and alterations

3.3 Special Versions

In case of additional/different order options, special versions may differ from the descrip -tion given here.

3.4 Cable Glands

To insert cables and electric lines,

X plastic or metal cable glands for permanently installed electric lines or

X plastic or metal cable glands with strain relief for electric lines, which are not perma -nently installed, can be used.

To seal unused openings,

X plastic or metal stopping plugs can be used.

Make sure that these components have appropriate certification. The IP degree of pro -tection according to the rating plate has to be observed.

3.5 Making Additional through Holes

If additional through holes are required, e.g. for fastening cable glands, breathers or other built-in parts in the enclosure, the following has to be observed:

- Additional through holes can be laser-cut or punched.

- During punching make sure that the surfaces remain flat.

- When determining the through holes, observe the mounting distances.

- Adjust the hole diameters to the dimensions of the built-in parts or their seals.

- Do not damage circumferential sealing lips.

3.6 Usable Area for Cable Glands

The usable area for installation is calculated as follows:

(length of the enclosure inner wall - 2x10 mm*) x (height of the enclosure inner wall - 2x10 mm*)

2x10 mm* = circumferential rim on the enclosure inner wall

Place requirement for the built-in part results from the width across corners of the cable gland plus space required for the tool.

WARNING

Alterations and modifications to the device are not permitted!

We shall not accept any liability or warranty obligations for damage resulting from alterations and modifications.

NOTICE

Measure the dimensions on the plane surface inside of the enclosure, not on the outside of the enclosure.

Consider additional place required for blind rivet nuts to ensure that they are not damaged.

Intended Use EN EN EN EN EN EN EN EN EN EN EN EN EN EN EN EN EN EN EN EN EN EN EN EN EN Calculation of the usable area

Usable area minus the area required for the built-in parts. The following table shows an example of the place requirement for R. STAHL cable glands:

Calculation example

X Dimensions of the enclosure inner sides: 297 mm (side D) x 122 mm X Desired cable gland: M25 (15 pcs), M32 (5 pcs)

Usable area

(297 mm - 2x10 mm*) x (122 mm - 2x10 mm*) = 28254 mm2 2x10 mm* = circumferential rim on the enclosure inner wall Required area for cable glands

The area for the cable glands must be smaller than the calculated usable area. If this is not the case, a larger enclosure must be chosen.

4 Intended Use

The empty enclosures Series 8150 are suitable for installation of explosion-protected components. The empty enclosures have a component certificate which can be used only as a basis for a certificate for equipment or protective system.
