Die Arbeitsgruppe Sozialberichterstattung widmet sich - in der Tradition der Sozial- indikatorenforschung - der Dauerbeobachtung des sozialen Wandels und der W ohl­

fahrtsentwicklung in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland, auch im internationalen Vergleich. Datenbasis sind Repräsentativbefragungen der Bevölkerung wie die sog.

Wohlfahrtssurveys und das Sozio-ökonomische Panel. Die theoretischen Orientie­

rungen stammen aus der Modemisierungstheorie und der Theorie der W ohlfahrts­

produktion. Unter dem Begriff Prospektive Sozialberichterstattung werden auch die handlungsrelevanten Vorstellungen über die zukünftige Entw icklung unserer Gesellschaft theoretisch und empirisch untersucht.
