Aim and Method

• Trial as proposed in CRL circular letter of 14.03.03

• 4 goat breeds, 2 sheep breeds, approx. 5 herds per breed

• Sampling of the milks in April, August and October 04

• Measurements of frozen samples in October 04

• Fluorophos method

Conclusions

• Alcaline phosphatase activity is 10 times higher in raw milk from ewes than from goats

• Generally the alcaline phosphatase activity is higher in summer

• In pasteurized milk from goats the alcaline phospha- tase activity is generally below 200 mU

• In pasteurized milk from ewes the averages of

alcaline phosphatase activity are between 700 and

2500 mU in summer and between 200 and 500 mU

in spring and autumn.
