Year 9 Chemistry – Worksheet

Waste separation

Tasks (as a group)

1. Imagine a school party (such as the winter ball) which of course produces a lot of waste.

Think of types of waste that may have accumulated. Write each idea on one of the cards at the top.

2. Cut out your cards and assign them to one of the bins on the second worksheet.

3. Now cut out the bins and assign them to one of the waste types on the A3 overview over waste separation.

4. Together, think about “final products” that result out of the respective waste recycling processes. Write your results onto the A3 overview.

5. Your last school party produced too much waste. Mr. Kemmer will only allow this year’s party, if you come up with ideas how to reduce the amount of waste. Think of suggestions you could make to the head of school.
