Dear citizens of Hattingen,

the corona virus has been part of our everyday lives for some months now. We have to live with changes to our lives privately and at work. If we want to survive this difficult time, we have to stick together and be responsible. Every single one of us!

Using a face mask we can help to protect ourselves and others. In Hattingen, wearing a mask was an important measure very early on in the pandemic. It's a simple thing that anyone can easily do.

In certain areas of the city-center mask wearing has been compulsory for several weeks now. You cannot keep enough distance when you are there. In the Heggerstrasse, the Große Weilstrasse and in the back alleys of the old town it is very narrow with many people walking there. Here everyone has to wear a face mask.

Our politicians decide the current rules. We all must adhere to the rules. If the number of corona patients increases the politicians will react and change the rules. It is therefore important that you are always informed and up to date.

However there are some general rules that always apply and are very important

• Keep a distance of at least one and a half meters

• Stay at home if you can

• Meet with as few people as possible

• Wear a mask

• Wash your hands regularly

• Do not shake hands and do sneeze into your elbow

• Ventilate your flat or house regularly, even now in winter.

The mayor of Hattingen asks everyone: please stick to the rules as we are all responsible for how things will develop. By imploying these measures we can protect the elderly and the sick. For some people the virus can be dangerous with serious consequences. It can even be fatal. Everyone must be aware of this.

The health system must not at any time be allowed to get to a point where it is overloaded because there are too many corona patients being treated in the hospitals at the same time. This is the ultimate goal!

The city of Hattingen presents the latest information on the web: www.hattingen.de We also provide the information in various languages.

Inform yourself regularly on the city's internet site or on the websites of the state and federal governments. There you will find all the important information about the corona virus. If you have any health issues you should contact the Ennepe-Ruhr District Health Department. Important information and telephone numbers are available at www.enkreis.de.

Stay healthy!
