Kresge Art Museum, the AAM-accredited art museum on the campus of Michigan State University, East Lansing, seeks an experienced, energetic education
curator. The museum exhibits works of art from the ancient world to the contemporary, plus changing exhibitions. A key member of the staff of seven, the educator oversees and implements the expanding education program including: training the large docent volunteer group; developing programs for children and the general public; preparing education grant applications and evaluations; supervising student involvement in the museum;
collaborating with units and organizations on and off campus, and serving as the museum’s spokesperson with area schools. The educator will be involved in the facility expansion to be built by 2009. Opportunities to participate and teach in MSU’s museum studies and art education programs.
Applicants must have a Masters degree in art history, art education,
museology or a related field with some studio art training; minimum 5 years art museum experience preferred. Evidence of effective teaching in museology or art education desired.
