(3)

Ablauf

▶ Was ist ein Review?

▶ Weshalb machen wir Reviews?

▶ Wie mache ich ein Review?

Lesen

Prüfen

▶ Kritisieren

▶ Beispiel

▶ Fragen

(4)

(9)

Lesen

Dabei helfen uns folgende Fragen:

▶ Welche Textsorte hat dieser Text?

▶ Was will dieser Text? (provozieren, aufrütteln, informieren etc.)

▶ An wen richtet sich dieser Text? (Fachpublikum, breite Öffentlichkeit, Jugendliche etc.)

▶ Wie “funktioniert” dieser Text?

(10)

Prüfen

(11)

Kritisieren

Gute Rückmeldungen sind:

▶ ehrlich

▶ konkret

▶ konstruktiv

▶ anständig

▶ frei von Ironie

▶ frei von orthographischen Fehlern

(12)

Beispiel

(13)

Inhalt

Ein Auszug meines Proposals für den Artikel

▶ Lesson Abstract: Both retro-digitized and digitally born sources are often

exchanged as PDF files. Tools such as Adobe Acrobat Professional are expensive and unsuitable for processing large volumes. Learn how to OCR, crop, split, convert or edit PDF files in batches.

▶ Learning Outcomes: You are able to use command line tools like ghostscript, poppler and ocrmypdf.

(14)

Inhalt

▶ (…) One comment did come back that I wanted to pass along: “it would be very useful if the lesson could walk through a couple of varieties of PDFs (born-digital ones where the text is already embedded; page images with OCR text already embedded; and un-OCRd pdfs) and the tools to extract text from them.”

(15)

Thematische Entwicklung

▶ (…) but it may be helpful to explicitly state what you are doing with the case studies. For this to go beyond the software tutorial into methodologies for digital humanists, you have the case study, but I wonder if you could say more about what you can do with it beyond distant reading and topic modelling.

(16)

▶ For each code snippet (for example, P21), depending on the anticipated audience for this lesson, you might include a sentence that breaks down what the different pieces of the code are doing. If a more advanced shell user is assumed, you could include a note early on (maybe in P4) that encourages users to paste the code into something like https://explainshell.com/ to see how it’s working if they have questions.

(17)

Leserführung

▶ Catherine DeRose (Reviewer) hält mich an, der Leserin immer wieder Orientierungspunktezu geben

▶ P22: Could add a sentence to encourage users to look in their working directory and confirm that a new file has indeed been added

▶ P46: It would be helpful to have a sentence here that explains what’s in those documents - why should someone read them, what do they say about PDFs (…)

(18)

Stil & Grammatik

▶ P1: Might rephrase the sentence that begins: “As a result, humanities scholars are increasingly being forced to…” Forced to makes it sounds like humanists are unwilling and uninterested. (…)

(19)

Formale Kriterien

▶ Anna-Maria Sichani (Editor) streicht einigeFormattierungsprobleme in meinem Dokument heraus

▶ (…) there are a number of formatting issues related to this, as you can see, and it might worth correcting them before moving to the next phase of peer review, as it is really hard to read (esp the last sections). Cheers!
