PARISH MISSION STATEMENT
We are a Holy Roman Catholic Church in union with the Holy Father and Diocesan Bishop. We are an active faith community in Richmond, Kentucky, that includes the
ministries of St. Mark School, the Catholic Campus Ministry at EKU and Hispanic outreach. We proclaim the
inspired Word and celebrate the Sacraments, rooted in the love and Spirit of Christ.

BULLETIN SUBMISSIONS
If you would like to submit informaon to appear in the
bullen or be included in the weekly email, call the parish
office or send an email to
stmarkrichmond@cdlex.org(preferred method to verify spelling and content). The
deadline is Monday at 2 p.m.
ALL content MUST be ap- proved by Fr. Tom.FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK: We have a holy day on the horizon, the Feast of the Immaculate Concepon of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which is this coming Wednesday, December 8 th . There will be two holy day Mass- es, one at noon, and the other at 6 PM. This is an especially important feast for the Church in the United States, as Mary is patroness of our country under the tle of the Immaculate Concepon. Join me at one of the two holy day Masses if you can.
The feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, beloved by many in the Hispanic community, falls on a Sunday this year, but it does not outrank the 3 rd Sunday of Advent, so the Spanish language Mass at 1 PM on December 12 th will be a 3 rd Sunday of Advent Mass, but it will include some refer- ences to OLG, and some of the music that is usually done on her feast.
Making advance plans for the celebraon of Christmas? We will have three Masses at St Mark, one at 4 PM on Christmas Eve, one at 7 PM on Christmas Eve, and one at 10 AM on Christmas Day. Last year’s Christmas Eve Masses were decimated by an a:ernoon snowfall and ice storm.
We’ll see if Mother Nature has a white Christmas in store for us this year!
Peace and all good will, Fr. Tom
PS Recognize the key pictured below? I found it some weeks ago outside the front door of the church. It is labeled as #66. If this is someone’s long lost key, just contact the parish office to claim it.

SUPPORT OUR CATHOLIC SCHOOL
THROUGH AMAZON SMILE
Amazon Smile donates 0.5% of your eligible purchases to a charitable organiza<on of your choice. Unlike Kroger rewards which can direct a check to a par<cular school or church or charity, Amazon’s rewards are <ed to our federal employer iden<fica<on number, which is the Diocese of Lexington. If you select the Diocese of Lexington as your charity, all proceeds will support tui<on assistance at our Catholic Schools.
Many thanksto those who offered any form of support during the Rite of Welcome at the Nov. 20Ͳ21 Masses. You made our inquirers feel welcome! Fr. Tom pointed out that three of our inquirers are EKU students; we have 11 children; and our oldest inquirer is 50ish. It is a diverse group whose journeys to the Church will enrich our parish. This weekend, we begin the first of three sessions that will take us to our Christmas break. For most of our inquirers, this is their first exposure to Advent. Please con<nue to pray for them as they learn and grow.
NEEDED: A parishioner who can serve as a substute teacher for our Rite of Chrisan Iniaon forChildrenprogram. For more informaon, contact Deaidra at 859Ͳ544Ͳ3488 or Tricia at 859Ͳ248Ͳ2495

We are well underway with our fundraising efforts to replace the ligh<ng system used for celebra<ng Masses at the Newman Center.
Our current system is estimated to be over 40 years old and it is cost prohibitive to replace the burned out lightbulbs (there are so many burned out bulbs that we can no longer use the system as there is not even adequate lighting over the altar). Our bid for the work has come in at just under $9,000. We participated in the iGiveCatholic campaign on Giving Tuesday and have received contributions from the families of our current students as well as EKU faculty, staff and even our Newman alumni, friends and families but haven’t reached the goal yet.
If you missed the iGiveCatholic campaign, you can still make a donation directly to our St. Mark Campus Ministry. Your support is greatly appreciated!
On behalf of the students of our campus ministry, I want to thank all of our parishioners for suppor<ng our Holiday Fudge Sale in our effort for the students to contribute to the Christmas Bazaar. Our ministry along with the en<re St. Mark community benefits from the funds raised by the Bazaar. To say that our fudge sale was a success would be an understatement! Students used their free <me around the holidays and during finals week to help make MANY, MANY batches! The recipe is one I “borrowed” from my mother and she too gave her thumbs up when I provided her a sample. She was amazed at the news I shared with her re- garding how many batches were requested. If we failed to fulfill any of the orders, please let me know and we will get your request filled immediately! Thank you again! Alanna
