Preface

85 (2) · August 2013

The ‘Newsletter on Enchytraeidae’

is a series of proceedings that – from issue Nº 4 – present the scientific output of the International Symposia on Enchytraeidae, which have been held every two years since 1994. This Newsletter No. 13 includes contributions presented at the 10th International Symposium on Enchytraeidae, held at the University of Coimbra, Portugal, 13 to 14 August, 2012, this time as a follow-up to the 16th International Colloquium on Soil Zoology. Eleven participants from nine different countries presented and discussed seven oral presentations and four posters. Afterwards, a taxonomic workshop provided the opportunity for the participants to study interesting or unfamiliar specimens of enchytraeids. The contribution of Johannesen et al.

was submitted separately to the journal.

The symposium was organized by Cintia Niva, Jörg Römbke and Rüdiger M. Schmelz, and was hosted by the Faculty of Science and Technology, University of Coimbra. Our special thanks go to the working group of Paulo Sousa at the Department of Zoology, University of Coimbra, who worked effectively to assure a smoothly running symposium.

The next symposium will be held at Haus Ohrbeck near Osnabrück, Germany, July 25–27, 2014.
