Hydroxychloroquine
SQTc interval prolonged following off label use: case report
In a retrospective study conducted in southern India hospital involving healthcare workers, who received prophylactic hydroxychloroquine between June 2020 to July 2020, a patient [age and sex not stated] was described, who experienced prolongation of QTc interval following off label administration of hydroxychloroquine for prophylaxis against COVID-19 [route not stated].
The patient received off label treatment with prophylactic hydroxychloroquine at a dose of 400mg twice a day on day 1 followed by 400mg once a day every week with meal for COVID-19. The patient’s baseline QTc interval was normal before initiation of hydroxychloroquine. A follow-up ECG after administration of hydroxychloroquine demonstrated raised QTc interval [duration of treatment to reaction onset and outcome not stated].
