Supplementary Material 2

Isolation site:

- Isolation at home in individual room with direct ventilation to the street and closed door. If this is not possible, at a site guaranteeing a minimum distance of 2 meters from the remaining cohabitants.

- Use of own bathroom, or if this is not possible, cleaning with bleach following each use by the patient. Periodic towel change whenever wet.

- Availability of personal individual toiletry items and avoidance of sharing objects which may be contaminated (toothbrush, cutlery, plates, drinks, towels, sponges, sheets).

- Place a pedal-operated rubbish bin in the room with plastic bag for discarding residue products.

- No visits during the isolation period.

Protective measures for the people at home.

- The patient should use a surgical mask when a cohabitant is within a distance of less than 1 meter.

- Both the patient and the caregivers should follow respiratory hygiene measures: cover the mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing with tissues that must be disposed immediately thereafter, or with the elbow if tissues are not available. The hands should then be washed with water and soap or an alcohol disinfectant solution for the hands.

- Both the patients and the caregivers should follow hand hygiene by frequent washing with water and soap or with alcohol disinfectant solution for the hands

- If the study case is a breastfeeding woman, she should wear a mask when close to the infant and careful hand hygiene should be performed before close contact with the infant.

Specific protective measures for caregivers:

-The patient should wear a surgical mask while the caregiver is nearby.

- Ensure that only one person provides care to the patient. Extreme caution should be taken when in contact with the patient or their fluids (blood, feces, urine, vomit, saliva,).

If the patient is not wearing a surgical mask the caregiver should.

- Following contact with the patient or their surroundings the caregivers should always wash their hands with soap or with alcohol disinfectant solution for the hands

Management of clothing and residues at home:

-Wash the clothing, sheets and towels, etc of the patient with water in the washing machine at 60-90 ºC with ordinary detergent. Place the clothing in a closed bag until washing. Do not shake out the used clothing.

-The bag with residue can be discarded with the remaining domestic garbage in a closed bag.

Cleaning:

- Surfaces in contact with the patient should be cleaned daily (night table, bed structure, bathroom surfaces), with a home cleaning disinfectant containing a diluted bleach solution 1/10 (1 part bleach and 10 parts water).

- Cutlery, glasses and plates should be washed in hot water with dishsoap (preferably in a dishwasher).
