Prizes will be awarded at The Historical Society's national meeting in Atlanta, Georgia, May 16-18, 2002
The Eugene Genovese Best Book in American History Prize
A prize of $5,000 (US) named after Eugene Genovese, distinguished historian of the American South, will be awarded for the best book by a member of the Society on any subject relating to American history.
To be considered, the book must have been published between January 2000 and December 2001. Candidates should send six copies of the book to:

The Donald Kagan Best Book in European History Prize
A prize of $5,000 (US) named after Donald Kagan, one of the most eminent historians of Ancient Greece, will be awarded for the best book by a member of the Society on any subject relating to European history. To be considered, the book must have been published between January 2000 and December 2001. Candidates should send six copies of the book to:

The Pauline Maier Best Dissertation in American History Prize A prize of $1,000 (US) named after Pauline Maier, one of the most outstanding practitioners of American history, will be awarded for the best doctoral dissertation by a member of the Society on any subject relating to American history. To be considered, dissertations should
have been submitted between January 2000 and December 2001. Candidates should send six copies of a ten-page abstract accompanied by a short bibliography to:

Hamerow Best Dissertation in European History Prize A prize of $1,000 (US) named after Theodore Hamerow, prominent historian of 19th and 20th century Germany, will be awarded for the best doctoral dissertation by a member of the Society on any subject relating to European history. To be considered, dissertations should
have been submitted between January 2000 and December 2001. Candidates should send six copies of a ten-page abstract accompanied by a short bibliography to:
