DATAPOINT 1170 DISPERSED PROCESSOR

The Datapoint 1170 Dispersed Processor provides users with the perfect balance of processing power and flexibility. Incorporating a 5500-type processor with 48K user memory, the 1170 also offers the convenience and economics of the diskette storage medium.

This processor will support virtually all the standard software designed to run on the 5500 Advanced Business Processor, including a versior of the DATASHARE Business Timesharing System developed especially for diskettes. This

diskette-based DATASHARE package, designated DS41170, can be configured with up to four video display 3600 or 3610 Datastations, and will

support the remote file processing (DSNET) and real-time telecommunications (MUL TILlNK) enhancements of DATASHARE 4.

The Datapoint 1170 also functions as a

stand-alone business computing facility. The 48K processor w.ill both compile and execute

application programs in DATABUS, RPGII, BASIC and ·COBOL. The system is available with two, three, or four diskette drives, for a maximum on-line storage capacity of one million characters.

The four-drive model is required for the DATASHARE implementation.

The 1170 will accommodate a wide variety of printers, terminals, and synchronous and asynchronous communications interfaces for a truly versatile networking capability.
