Information from the Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs and Integration for Parents with Daycare Children about Corona Testings in Children’s Facilities

Date: 22/03/2021

 In order to protect children, families and daycare center staff against Corona infection, the Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs and Integration has provided the daycare centers with more than 300,000 Corona tests for children.

 You can use this offer to test your child on a voluntary basis. The tests are not compulsory.

However, a larger number of children performing self-tests means a greater protection from infection.

 We provide one test per week for every child until Easter. After Easter, your child can perform two tests per week.

 You will receive the tests as well as further information and a manual directly from the daycare center.

 The self-tests provided for the children are user-friendly; a smear in the anterior nasal area is sufficient. You can find a video at:

 Please make sure to perform the test with your children on Sunday evening or on Monday morning before you go to the daycare center and to follow the instructions precisely.

 If the test is positive, this means that there is probably an infection with Coronavirus. In this case, the respective children have to stay at home to avoid further infections. It is absolutely necessary that the test result is checked with a PCR test by a family doctor, a pediatrician or at the test center. Please also inform the daycare center in this case. Only after a negative PCR test, the child is permitted to return to the daycare center.

 By regularly testing children and daycare center staff, we want to prevent renewed closures of the facilities, because children and parents are in need of daycare centers.

 Please support this. Thank you.
