Munich, July 4, 2011

We are seeking to appoint a Research Associate 50% (E13 TV-L) complementing our team in the fields of teaching, research and administration. The appointment starts at October 1st 2011. This is a fixed-term appointment for 36 months. An extension of the appointment for another 36 months is possible.
The Institute for Spatial and Territorial Development is part of the Department of Architecture at Munich University of Technology. Our work is at the intersection of socio-economic research, urban design and spatial planning. Based on research on the knowledge economy as a key driver for spatial development we are dealing with spatial development on the scale of the neighbourhood, city and region. Our work is centred around the interplay of different perspectives on spatial development, such as functional, morphological and normative on various scale levels from local to global. Among others, the following areas of work are in the focus: analysis and visualization of functional networks, spatial strategies, models of urban
development, images of cities and regions.
To strengthen our team we are seeking to appoint a person holding a Master or a Diploma in Architecture, Urban Design or Urban Planning. You should have significant experience of quantitative and qualitative research methods, a good English and German level as well as didactical skills and imagination. Knowledge of Visualization Techniques assisted by DTP Software (Adobe Creative Suite) and Geographic Information Systems (ArcView) will be an advantage. There will be the possibility to do a PhD.
Severely disabled persons will be favoured over other applicants if they have the same experience. The TUM aims at increasing the contingent of women; therefore applications of women are very welcome.
