BRITISH SCULPTURE ABROAD: 1945 to NOW Tate Britain 12 - 13 March 2004

This two-day conference, organised by the Henry Moore Institute in collaboration with Tate Britain, will bring together an international panel of curators, scholars, artists and dealers to consider how sculpture from Britain has been collected, exhibited, understood and assimilated over the last fifty years, in contexts outside of this country.

The sessions are

'Notions of Britishness now' (chair: Veit Görner)

'New British Sculpture - the mainstream and the marginal' (chair: Hendrik Driessen)

'Critical responses - to and from America' (chair: Brendan Prendeville) 'Healing' post-war Europe' (chair: Henry Meyric Hughes)

The speakers are Elizabeth Legge, Friedrich Meschede, Ami Barak, Fran Lloyd, Nick Baker, Ian Barker, Stuart Brisley, Andrew Causey, Phyllis Tuchman, Alistair Rider, Joy Sleeman, Veronica Davies, Nancy Jachec, Walter Grasskamp, and Joan Marter. The final session will be a panel discussion with curators and contemporary artists, including Karsten Schubert and Richard Deacon.
