EDITORIAL: diacritical markings and umlauts

H-ArtHist - Rainer Donandt - Dear list members,

You may have noticed that we started to use diacritical markings and

German umlauts in our postings (which happen to be also Turkish umlauts, cf.

our latest review by Burcu Dogramaci on "P Sanat Kültür Antika").

We thus follow the lead of other H-Net lists, like HABSBURG and our partner lists H-Soz-u-Kult and H-Museum.

The H-Net listserv has been redesigned to process multiple character sets.

Still,

some of you may now receive slightly garbeled messages, which depends on the software you use (i.e. the computing platform for your PC or Mac and your e-mail

client must properly support MIME).

If you have any problems with reading our postings, please let us know.

Unfortunately we are unable to offer you technical assistance. But we consider this to be a test phase and we can return to the 'old style' any time, if the odd

characters should cause you any inconveniences.

Rainer Donandt in the name of the editors
