to get to know me.

My name is Kathy Ruiz. I’m 21 years old and I’m from the beautiful capital of Colombia, Bogotá. The city where I live is very big, it has beautiful sunsets and despite its cold climate, the people make it welcoming to those who visit and live in it.

In my free time I like to go jogging in the beautiful parks that Bogotá has. I also really like going to the movies and spending time with my family. I like artistic dance from different regions, sports and I practice swimming. I like to paint, my house is full of paintings that I have painted, some are not so perfect but I still like to have them. I like to cook and I’m learning to play the violin, I never thought I would forget to play the violin, but I really like this instrument. My family and friends consider me a social, jovial, helpful, attentive, responsible, organized, punctual person and a person open to dialogue in any circumstance. I adore nature and contributed to its projection.

Currently I have finished my professional career. I studied modern languages at Ean University and I have not received my degree yet, because as a requirement I must take a state exam. But there is little left to present it and I’m very excited. Within my life plans is to continue my studies in other areas such as digital marketing or social work.

I love traveling and having enriching experiences. One of the actions that prompted me to study modern languages was to learn about other cultures, share, their traditions, their history and their gastronomy. Thank God I have had the opportunity to travel to the United States several times. There I have family with whom I love to share my time.

I live with my mother, my grandmother and my pet, a cat named Luna. My father doesn’t live with us but we see each other almost every day. My mom is a professional accountant. She works for the state. She likes working, playing sports, traveling and looking for alternatives so that we can contribute to caring for the environment. My grandmother loves to spend time with the family, she is very jovial, patient and loving. She is very active for her age, she has more energy than me. My dad owns an import and export company. My dad really likes to play golf. He is very loving and very human. He is characterized by always being willing to help. The relationship with my parents is based on love and respect. We have good communication. My parents are present in every aspect of my life, so they support me in every goal and project I have. They are my greatest support.

I enjoy sharing with children of different ages and personalities, offering them accompaniment,

support and guidance in academic and social settings and the different situations that arise in day to

day. Faced with complex moments that arise living with children, I always go directly to the parents so that they are the ones who take the necessary corrections. Likewise, I accept the norms and rules that are defined in the home for the well-being of infants with the aim of a healthy coexistence.

In addition to my hobbies and studies, I took swimming courses and a manicure and pedicure course.

I love nature and I do what I can to care for it. I really like gardening practices and those that have to do with animal protection.

I decided to be part of the Nanny’s Child Care team to realize my dream of traveling to another country, learning another language and getting to know new cultures. This is why I saw a great work and personal opportunity in the Au Pair process. I would very much like to know the representative traditions of Germany in a family environment.

Within my expectations with the host family is to have a good coexistence with all the relatives focused on mutual respect and support where we can grow mutually. Likewise, I hope that the host family will contribute, guide me and make me feel like a member of it. I also hope that the children are respectful and willing to share a cultural mix since because I will take part of my Colombian customs and culture.

Thanks to my professional career I learned English with an A2-B1 level, Italian with an A2 level, and French with A1 level. Additionally I learned German through the Nanny’s Child Care agency who gave me language classes and I was able to certify it in front of the German house in Bogotá, an institution approved by the German embassy.
