SYSTEM/3 APPLICATION PROGRAMS
Apparel Business Control (ABC) SystemThe ABC System is an order processing system for the apparel business. It incorporates seven basic order-related functions: Order Edit and Pricing, Order Writing, Bookings Reporting, Fabric Requirements Reports, Finished Goods Requirements Reporting, Stock Allocation, and Invoicing.
The system of functions is tailored to the user's needs in accordance with a modifier program fed from questionnaire responses that have been keypunched into 96-column cards.
ABC is written entirely in System/3 Card RPG II. The minimum system required includes an 8K card-oriented S/3-10 CPU (541()'A2), a 5203-1 Printer, 5424-Al Multi-Function Card Unit, and either a data recorder or data entry keyboard. The storage required can be affected by the user's color code table requirements, but the minimum system will allow about 150 of these. Basic manual: IBM Form GH2()'0822.

~ Appropriation Accounting System
'This is a general ledger, revenue, and appropriation program. It accumulates, analyzes, and presents fmancial data by fund, source, organizational unit, project, function, or any user-determined classification. It thus serves System/
3 users in the same way that the Budget Accounting Information System (BACIS) serves Systern/360 and 370 users_
The Appropriation. Accounting System is coded in Card RPG II and requires only an 8K System/3 Model 10 (5410-A2 CPU) with a multi-function card unit and a 132-column printer to run_ Basic manual: IBM Form GH20-1049.

BOMP establishes, maintains,. and retrieves data from four basic manufacturing files: item master, product structure, Iwork center master, and routing records. It can reorganize those files and retrieve information at various levels_ The files are on disk. BOMP is able to run on a disk-oriented System/3 Model 6 or 10. It is an integral part of IBM's Production Information and Control System (PICS), and prospective BOMP users should refer to the PICS manual (GE20-0280).
BOMP is provided in Disk RPG II source code, and requires the Disk System Control Program (SCP) and Disk RPG II to run. The minimum S/3-10 configuration is a 16K disk-oriented CPU (5410-A14) with a disk drive multi-function card unit, and printer. The minimum S/3-6 is a 16K CPU (5406-B4) with a printer and a disk drive. A second disk drive is recommended on either system, since master flle reorganization requires a new disk area plus an associated temporary disk output file. Basic manual: IBM Form GH20-0965.

Card Bill of Material and Requirements Planning Card BOMR helps System/3 Model 10 users install requirements planning applications. It consists of the following programs: Activity Audit and Bill of Material, Increase Level and Replace Level, Where-Used, Require-ments Generation, and RequireRequire-ments Planning. The pro-grams are used in conjunction with the S/3 card system utilities sort/merge. Aspects of the system are related to those of the System/360 and 370 Production Information and Control System, and it is a good idea for prospective users to study the PICS manual (GE2o-0280).

This four-phase Program Product is an integral part of IBM's Production Information and Control System (PICS) and uses fIles created by the S/3 Bill of Materials Processor (BOMP). PICS is discussed with the other System/360 and 370 application program products, and is outlined in IBM Form GE2o-0280. BOMP is discussed in an earlier System/3 application program product description.
The system's four phases are: Inventory Planning, Projec-tion, Requirements Planning, and Execution (processing of input transactions and status report preparation).
Both the System/3 Model 6 and Model 10 can use the Inventory and Requirements Planning system. The system configuration requirements are the same as for BOMP with the addition of Disk Sort (5702-SMI on the S/3-10 and 5703-SM1 on the S/3-6). If the S/3-6 does not have an on-line data recorder, it must also have the S/3-6 Conversational Utilities (5703-UT1). Basic manual: IBM Form GH2o-0971.

Optimum Blending is a small linear programming system for hiending applications in ihe iood processing and agricuiture industries. Its blend function produces an optimal blend of raw material ingredients based on product specifications and ingredient analysis, and its report function prints mixing instructions. No user programming is required for its use.
The minimum system for Optimum Blending will depend upon the size of the blending problem. For program execution and report program compilation, an 8K card-oriented S/3-10 (541O-A2) CPU with a printer and multi-function card unit will suffice. To assemble the blending program, 12K bytes of storage, a disk drive, and the Universal Character Set on the printer are required.

This is a tool for management of commercial time and advertiser contracts in the broadcasting industry. It maintains fIles, can move "spots" vertically (time-of-day) and horizontally (day-of-week), prepare daily logs prior to broadcasting, and prepare invoices and data preparation forms. Its use is intended for small- to medium-sized broadcasters having total revenues of $1 million to $8 million.
The system runs on a System/3 Model 10 with 24K bytes of core (541o-A15 CPU) and a disk, a multi-function card unit, a 200 Ipm, 132-column printer, and a printer-keyboard. It is written in Disk RPG II, and requires the Disk RPG II compiler and S/3-10 Disk Sort Program. The disk-resident card utility program helps installation greatly.
A 9.8-million-byte two-disk configuration is recommended for efficiency. Basic manual: IBM Form GH20-4229.

Unit Inventory Technique
Unit Inventory Technique assists retailers in installing a unit control system. At its minimum level, up to nine stores can be accounted for, and more stores can be added by increasing the core size. Initially, the system maintains basic ftles and operating reports. It can examine items for sales performance and inventory levels. Color and size reporting is also possible.
Unit Inventory Technique is written in Card RPG II, with a portion of the fIle update routine coded in S/3 Basic Assembler. Hence, although the program will run on a 12K card-oriented S/3-10 (541O-A3) CPU with any model of multi-function card unit and printer, it requires use of a Disk S/3-10 for any modification of the Assembler-coded routine. Card RPG II is required. Basic manual: IBM Form GH2o-0931.
