Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-financed Students Abroad 2010

This award was set up in 2003 to recognize the achievements of non-government funded students abroad and by 2011 the prize has been awarded to around 2400 Chinese students world-wide. The selection process is fiercely competitive and begins when the education di-visions of the Chinese embassies recommend PhD students of the highest academic caliber, who are then shortlisted and considered by a panel of experts in China. In 2011, 36 students in Germany are selected for this award.
