Invitation and Call for Registration

Dear Colleagues,

As already announced in Linz the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, the Arts and Culture and _erinnern.at_ invite you to an International Conference that will take place prior to the next ITF-plenary under Austrian Chairmanship in Vienna at Hotel Favorita, December 11-13, 2008.

This conference gives space for an international discussion about changes in the memory of the Holocaust and about Holocaust-Teaching. As members of the EWG/ITF we invite you to participate and to continue the content-oriented approach within our working group. Follow- ing the format of the annual “Central Seminar” of _erinnern.at_ for this 2008-Conference we bring together national and international representatives of relevant academic disciplines with Austrian teachers, teacher trainers, textbook authors, students and teacher colleagues from the Council of Europe.

_erinnern.at_ is an educational organization of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, the Arts and Culture focused on Holocaust education for teachers in Austria. It addresses teachers of all school types and a variety of subjects, mainly history, but also citizenship education, literature, religious studies and ethics. It intends to transfer historical knowledge as well as methodological-didactical approaches on the Holocaust and to emphasize their importance for the present (www.erinnern.at).

The Austrian side covers conference fees and meals.
