Assistant Professor (Film and Media Studies) Department of Visual Studies

The Department of Visual Studies (VS) at Lingnan University offers a multi-disciplinary course of study, focusing on three core disciplines in visual arts: art history, film studies and philosophical aesthetics. VS admits about 30 undergraduate majors and a small number of MPhil and PhD stu- dents per academic year. To develop and teach courses in the area of creative arts and media, the VS Department invites applications for a tenure-track position of Assistant Professor in film and media studies. The appointee is expected to teach courses in creative industries, film, and digital media. She/he is also expected to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students. General Requirements

Applicants should have a PhD in film and media studies. Expertise in creative/media industries and digital media will especially be welcome. Lingnan University is fully committed to the pursuit of excellence in both teaching and research. Candidates are required to provide information about their research records, including scholarly works, awards of research grant and evidence of high- -quality teaching. The appointee, besides being an effective teacher, is expected to produce quali- ty research in the very near future; she or he is required to participate in competitive grant exercis- es and to assist the Department with administration and curriculum development.

The conditions of appointment will be competitive. Remuneration will be commensurate with qual-

ifications and experience. Fringe benefits include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund, gratuity, housing benefits and incoming passage and baggage allowance for the eligible appointee.

Appointments will normally be made on an initial contract of three years, which, subject to review and mutual agreement, may lead to longer-term appointments with possibility of consideration for substantiation.
