Opening of a permanent position at the Institute of Discrete Mathematics and Geometry, Faculty of Mathematics and Geoinformation, TU Wien

Full Professorship in “Differential Geometry”

(according to § 98 University Act 2002)

The estimated starting date is May 1, 2018.

Applicants are expected to have an outstanding academic track record in the field of Differential Geometry, with a focus on a modern research area in the field with relations to Classical

Differential Geometry and Applications of Differential Geometry, such as the area of Discrete Differential Geometry. Links to Applied Geometry and the interdisciplinary Center for Geometry and Computational Design are an advantage. The successful candidate will take an appropriate teaching load in the programme „Technische Mathematik“ and a central role in the teacher training programme "Darstellende Geometrie", hence a broad knowledge of classical geometries is required. Special consideration will be given to applicants with demonstrated ability to attract external project funding.

Knowledge of German is not a precondition; however we expect a successful candidate to acquire a working knowledge of German.

The applicant must meet the following requirements: academic degree in the respective field of the position, outstanding academic track record in research and teaching, administrative and organisational skills pedagogic and didactic skills, gender sensitivity, social skills and willingness to promote young scientists as well as leadership potential.

University professors belong to grade A1 of the Austrian Collective Agreement for University Staff and receive a minimum salary of EUR 68475,40 per year. A higher salary agreement commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience can be negotiated.
