Abstract

The submitted bachelor thesis deals with the development of the bilateral relationship between the neighbouring countries of Bavaria and the Czech Republic since 1989.

Regarding the positive and intensive economic relations between both countries, it will be studied whether there is a corresponding positive development in the area of interpersonal relations. Official governmental documents (bilateral agreements, international treaties) as well as local initiatives (language and cultural projects, mutual interest meetings projects) will be included. The work of selected intercultural organisations from the Bavarian-Czech border region will also be presented. The introductory section outlines the history of the long cross-border relations in order to better comprehend the starting point in 1989. After the interpretation of the cooperation initiatives comes the formulation of possible development perspectives of the Bavarian-Czech cross-border cooperation.
