ADULT CONFIRMATION AND FIRST HOLY COMMUNION

Are you ready to deepen your Relationship with our Lord as you explore the truths of your Catholic faith?

Dear Friends,

This past Thursday August 22, the Roman Catholic Church celebrated a memorial in honor of the Queenship of Mary. This memorial is an octave, that is, eight days after celebrating Mary’s Assumption into Heaven. We can consider the memorial as a prolonging of the celebration of the Assumption.

Lumen Gentium of Vatican II reaffirms authoritatively the doctrine of Mary's queenship: "When her earthly life was over," she was

"exalted by the Lord as Queen over all things, that she might be more fully conformed to her Son." (LG 59)

When Mary’s life journey ended, she was assumed body and soul into heaven and received for her faithfulness the “the crown of life.” (Rv 2:10b) Her queenship has universal significance because she has attained full communion with Christ and is a majestic icon of the Church as we move forward toward the Kingdom of God that is already here and is to be fully realized becoming “a new heaven and a new earth,” God’s dwelling, the state of being known as heaven, in which “there shall be no more death or mourning, wailing or pain.” (Rv 21:1; Rv 21:4) Mary Queen of HeavenPray for us!

Fr. Gino

Estados Amigos,

Padre Gino

Newman Community,

On behalf of the NMSU Catholic Campus Ministry and Lunch Bunch; we extend our gratitude for the generous response of sponsorships received to provide free meals to students. We are able to offer over 400 free meals! This is great for both the students and for Lunch Bunch to become well known on campus. Thank you, once again. This would not have been possible without this giving parish.

Blessings Always,

Renee Baca, NMSU Catholic Campus Minister Bonnie Benedetti, Lunch Bunch Coordinator

With the six tasks in mind, parents are reminded that each grade holds a special purpose in the full religious formation of

our children. In Kindergarten our goal is socializing our children into the faith, setting the foundation for future years and is part of the Pre-Sacrament Preparation for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist. First Grade is considered First Reconciliation 1 so that children are ready for the sacrament in grade 2 – First Reconciliation Preparation. Instruction in

grades 1 and 2 are essential and the Diocese requires that children engage in two years of preparation for First Eucharist in third grade. Finally, grades 4 and 5 allows us to further establish our children’s role in the church; teaching them how they can participate in the mass in preparation for confirmation.

Religious Education Reminder ±Don’t forget to register your children for religious education. Our first class is September 8 (Sunday class) or September 9 (Monday classes). We will be closing registration on August 25, 2016.Visit our Newman Parish website (https://www.stalbertnewmancenter.org/) and select the Faith Formation tab.
