Prof. Dr. Henrik te Heesen is Professor for Renewable Energy at the Environmental Campus Birkenfeld of Trier University of Applied Sciences. He studied physics at RWTH Aachen Univer- sity and earned his doctorate in physics at Ruhr University Bochum. After working as an assis- tant to the CEO, he was head of the O&M department of a medium-sized company in the pho- tovoltaic sector.

Prof. te Heesen joined the Environmental Campus Birkenfeld in 2013 and is responsible for the bachelor’s degree program "Renewable Energy (B. Sc.)". He was Vice Dean of the Department of Environmental Planning/Environmental Technology in 2021. Prof. te Heesen is Vice Presi- dent for Research of the Trier University of Applied Sciences Trier since January 2022.

His research focuses on energy model development, quality assurance of renewable energy systems, and energy and resource efficiency. Since January 2019, Prof. te Heesen is a member of the executive board of the environmental technology network Ecoliance Rhineland-Palati- nate e. V. Since April 2021, he is director of the Institute for Operations and Technology Man- agement (IBT) at the Environmental Campus.

Prof. te Heesen is the author of several publications on energy model development, yield anal- ysis, and optimization of PV systems. Since Sept. 2015, Prof. te Heesen is listed at BAFA as an energy auditor according to DIN EN 16247-1.
