Groups with matrix models and continous logic.

Swiatos law R. Gal ´

Abstract: During the seminar we would discuss the class of groups which have a matrix model in the classical sense, that is those groups G, such that every existential sentence in first order language about G is valid in some matrix group.

We will introduce the language of continuous logic to discuss groups with matrix model (hyperlinear and sofic) next week.

We would follow the exposition of Pestov and Kwiatkowska An introduction to hyperlinear and sofic groups http://arxiv.org/abs/0911.4266

The introductory talk would introduce residually finite groups.
