Outline
• Four sessions with seven parts in two days:
1) The Ruhr metropolis
2) Urban development – global and regional perspectives 3) Structural change in the Ruhr
4) Brownfields in Germany and NRW
5) Tourism, culture and leisure: New industries in old buildings 6) 30 hectares goal: Strategies, instruments, and results 7) Housing on brownfields & investors’ perspective
• Two full-day field trips by bus: Bochum and the Ruhr Region
• Half of the group are students from the U.S.
• Assignments for German participants:
• One meeting in advance
• Preparation of the comments and preparation of a part of the field trips
• Report incl. discussion results
