General information

Reading and storing the user manual

This user manual accompanies this pulse watch with finger touch and sleep tracking (referred to only as the “pulse watch” below). It contains im- portant information about operation and care.

Before using the pulse watch, read the user manual carefully.

This particularly applies to the safety instructions. Failure to observe this user manual may result in severe injury or dam- age to the pulse watch.

Store the user manual for further use. If you pass the pulse watch on to third parties, please be absolutely sure to include this user manual.

The following symbols and signal words are used in this user manual, on the pulse watch or on the packaging.

This signal symbol/word designates a hazard with moderate risk, which may result in death or severe injury if not avoided.

Safety Proper use

The pulse watch is only intended for use as a wristwatch as well as a workout aid for measuring and displaying your pulse. It is exclusively intended for private use and is not suit- able for commercial, therapeutic or medical application.

Only use the pulse watch as described in this user manual.

Using it in any other way is deemed improper and may result in damage to property or even personal injury. The pulse watch is not a children’s toy.

Safety instructions

WARNING!

Risk of accident/injury!

Do not use the pulse watch when you are driving a vehicle. It is dangerous to look away from the road. This could cause an accident, which could injure you or other persons.

− If you would like to operate the pulse watch, stop the car or let a passenger perform settings.

If used improperly, battery fluid may leak out of the battery.

Touching damaged and leaked batteries could result in injury and chemical burns.

− Do not touch leaky batteries. If you do come into contact with battery acid, wash the affected area thoroughly and rinse it with plenty of water. If leaked battery fluid comes into contact with your eyes, also seek medical attention.

If children play with the packaging, small parts or batteries, they could swallow them, choke on them or injure themselves on them.

− Make sure that children do not play with the packaging wrapper. They could swallow it and choke.

− If swallowed, batteries could pose a risk of death. There- fore, store the batteries so that they are not accessible for small children. If a battery is swallowed, seek immediate medical attention.

− Always consult your physician before you begin a regular workout routine.

− If you wear a pacemaker, consult your physician before using the pulse watch.

Improper handling of the pulse watch may result in damage.

− Do not use the pulse watch if it exhibits visible damages.

− Do not place any heavy objects on the pulse watch.

− Do not exert any pressure on the pulse watch.

− Protect the pulse watch against impacts.

− Keep sharp objects away from the pulse watch.

− Do not submerge the pulse watch in water or other liquids for a prolonged period of time.

− You can use the pulse watch at ambient temperatures between 14 °F and 140 °F (–10 °C and +60 °C).

− Do not subject the display of the pulse watch to bright sunlight or ultraviolet radiation.

− Keep the pulse watch away from hot surfaces.

− Do not heat up the pulse watch.

− Do not expose the pulse watch to direct sunlight or other heat sources, e.g. in a vehicle.

− Avoid very strong magnetic fields (e.g. electric welding equipment, transformers) as they could cause irregulari- ties when measuring time.

− Do not push the buttons if the pulse watch is wet. Water may penetrate the housing through the buttons and dam- age the clockwork.

− Keep in mind that salt and thermal water could cause met- al parts to corrode.

− It is recommended that you do not wear the pulse watch in the sauna as condensation can form due to the differences in temperature and damage the pulse watch as a result.

− Movements during swimming or a water stream (e.g. when showering or washing your hands) could cause peaks in pressure. The applicable areas of the pulse watch are sub- jected to significantly greater forces than presumed based on the depth alone. Only watches with a classification of

50 m (160 ft) can be considered water-tight (showering possible). Only watches with a classification of 100 m (328 ft) or more can be worn when swimming.

− Water tightness is not a permanent property as the func- tion of integrated gaskets may deteriorate with daily use or be damaged by an impact or fall.

− Subjecting the pulse watch to substantial changes in temperature, e.g. while sunbathing followed by a jump in cooler water, could cause condensation to form in the watch casing. This does not necessarily indicate that the watch is not water-tight, however, the moisture must be

− Do not throw batteries in a fire.

− Never attempt to recharge non-rechargeable batteries.

Handling batteries improperly may result in damage.

− Protect batteries against heat (e.g. heater) and sunlight.

− Do not short-circuit the batteries and do not dismantle them.

− Only replace the battery with a battery of the same or equivalent type.

− If necessary, clean the battery and device contacts before you insert them.

− Immediately remove an empty battery from the pulse watch. Otherwise there is an increased danger of leakage.

− Remove the battery from the pulse watch if you do not intend to use it for a prolonged period.

Checking the pulse watch and pack contents

NOTICE!

Risk of damage!

If you are not cautious when opening the packaging with a sharp knife or other pointed objects, you may quickly damage the pulse watch.

− Therefore, be careful when opening it.

1. Take the pulse watch out of the packaging.

2. Remove the packaging material from the pulse watch.

3. Check to make sure that the delivery is complete (see fig. A).

4. Check whether the pulse watch exhibits damages. If this is the case, do not use the pulse watch. Contact the man- ufacturer at the service address specified on the warranty card.

First use

1. Remove the packaging material and pull the protective foil off of the display 3 .

2. Push any button.

You will automatically enter time mode.

Performing basic settings

After 90 seconds of button inactivity while performing settings, the display will switch back to the normal time indicator. All settings performed until then will be saved. In this case, start the setting process from the beginning.

− Hold the “MODE” button 5 down for approx. 3 seconds until a signal beep sounds once.

2. To confirm your selection, push the “MODE” button 5 . The minutes will blink.

3. Set the minutes by pushing the “ST./STP.” button (for- ward) or “SELECT” button (back).

If you hold the “ST./STP.” button or the

“SELECT” button down for longer than one sec- ond, fast forward or rewind will start.

4. To confirm your selection, push the “MODE” button.

The hours will blink.

5. Set the hours by pushing the “ST./STP.” button (forward) or “SELECT” button (back).

The year will blink.

13. As a format, select either “Day – month” (d – M) or “Month – day”

(M – d) by pushing the “ST./STP.” button or “SELECT” button.

The FORMAT indicator will appear and the time format will blink.

15. Select either 12-hour or 24-hour time as the format by pushing the “ST./STP.” button or “SELECT” button.

16. To confirm your selection, push the “MODE” button.

Setting the tones

The “CHIME” indicator will appear.

1. To determine whether the pulse watch emits an alarm every hour, select “ON” or “OFF” by pushing the “ST./STP.”

button 2 or “SELECT” button 4 .

2. To confirm your selection, push the “MODE” button 5 . If you have selected “ON”, the symbol will appear on the bottom right of the display and the pulse watch will emit one beep every full hour.

The “BEEP” indicator (button sounds) will appear.

Entering personal information

The “GENDER” indicator will appear.

1. Enter whether you are male (“M”) or female (“F”) by push- ing the “ST./STP.” button 2 or “SELECT” button 4 . 2. To confirm your selection, push the “MODE” button 5 .

The “BIRTH” indicator (year of birth) will appear.

3. Enter your year of birth by pushing the “ST./STP.” button (forward) or “SELECT” button (back).

4. To confirm your selection, push the “MODE” button.

The “ENG UNIT” indicator (selection of the unit of measure) will appear.

5. Specify whether you would like to use pounds and inches (ENG) or kilograms and centimeters (METR) as the unit of measure.

6. To confirm your selection, push the “MODE” button.

The “HEIGHT” indicator will appear.

7. Enter your height by pushing the “ST./STP.” button (for- ward) or “SELECT” button (back).

8. To confirm your selection, push the “MODE” button.

The “WEIGHT” indicator will appear.

9. Enter your weight by pushing the “ST./STP.” button (for-

The “WALK STRIDE” indicator will appear.

11. Enter the length of your stride when walking by pushing the “ST./STP.” button (forward) or “SELECT” button (back).

A good method of determining the average length of your stride is to walk or run a fixed distance (e.g. 328 ft (100 meters)) and count the number of strides required. Then divide the dis- tance by the number of steps and convert the feet to inches.

12. To confirm your selection, push the “MODE” button.

The “RUN STRIDE” indicator will appear.

13. Enter the length of your stride when running by pushing the “ST./STP.” button (forward) or “SELECT” button (back).

Set both the lengths of your walking and run- ning stride regardless whether you only intend to walk or run. This will ensure that the measure- ments are as accurate as possible. Otherwise, the pulse watch will use default values that do not correspond to your personal movement profile.

14. To confirm your selection, push the “MODE” button.

The “DAILY RESET” indicator will appear.

15. To configure whether the pulse watch should reset the measured data daily, select “ON” or “OFF”, by pushing the

Main modes

The pulse watch has seven main modes.

− To switch between time, workout, sleep, stop watch, alarm and timer mode, push the “MODE” button 5 .

− To access pulse mode, place your index finger on the sensor surface 1 while wearing the pulse watch on your wrist.

Pulse mode

The pulse watch will measure your pulse via the back of the casing, which simultaneously serves as a contact surface.

− To enable the measurement of your pulse, wear the pulse watch so that the back of the casing is in contact with your wrist.

− To access pulse mode, push the sensor surface 1 for approx. 5–8 seconds regardless of the mode you are currently in.

The display 3 will switch to the pulse indicator.

After a brief measurement interval, the display will show your current pulse.

The large reading in the middle is your current pulse measured by the watch. The small percentage on the right indicates how many percent of your maximum pulse has been reached.

After approx. 5 seconds, the display again shows the mode the pulse watch was in before measuring your pulse.

• When measuring your pulse, place your index fi nger directly on the sensor surface.

Ideally, place your fi nger with the middle of your distal phalanx on it so that it is fl at and stable and make sure that the pulse watch is securely positioned on your wrist.

• Fingers that are very cold or fingers with poor circulation may interfere with the mea- surement of your pulse.

• If your skin is very dry or your underarms are very hairy, it is recommended that you wet your finger and the skin on your wrist with a small amount of water before measuring your pulse.

• If your heart beats are irregular, it may not be possible to measure your pulse or the measurement may be incorrect.

Determining your maximum pulse

To correctly determine your maximum pulse, you will have to specify your year of birth in the basic settings (see chapter

“Performing basic settings”).

The maximum pulse is calculated as follows:

Age (example): 50

Maximum pulse = 220 – age Maximum pulse = 220 – 50 = 170

• If you have not specifi ed your year of birth with the basic settings, the pulse watch will use a default value.

• If the pulse measurement does not display a value or the pulse watch performs a pulse measurement on its own although you did not touch the sensor surface with your finger, clean the front and back side of the pulse watch (see chapter “Cleaning”).

• It is not possible to measure your pulse under water.

Time mode

− To display the time, push the “MODE” button 5 until

“TIME” appears on the display 3 .

Shortly thereafter, the date and time will appear on the display.

− To show either the day and month or weekday and day in the upper display segment, push the “ST./STP.” button 2 or the “SELECT” button 4 .

Workout mode

− To access workout mode, push the “MODE” button 5 until

“WORK” appears on the display 3 . Shortly thereafter, the current workout data will appear on the display.

1. To set the indicator of the bottom segment of the display, hold the “MODE” button 5 down for approx. 3 seconds.

“MODE” is shown in the upper segment of the display and the display will start to blink in the bottom display segment.

2. To determine whether the bottom display segment shows the speed (SP), the current pace (PC) or the distance (DI), push the “ST./STP.” button 2 or the “SELECT” button 4 .

The indicator selected in the bottom display segment (speed – SP, current pace – PC or dis- tance – DI) is not shown again in the top display segment by pushing the “SELECT” button.

Configuring workout zones and goals

The indicator for the workout zone blinks in the top display segment (basic setting: “HEALTH”), the indicator “ZONE” ap- pears in the bottom display segment.

You can now select a workout zone. With the workout zone you can define a suitable lower limit and upper limit for your pulse for your workout.

The lower and upper limits for your pulse are aligned with your maximum pulse. You can find out how to determine your maximum pulse in the chapter “Determining your maximum pulse”.

The pulse watch has an individually adjustable (INDIV) work- out zone as well as three preset workout zones:

• the health workout zone (HEALTH)

Lower pulse limit 50 % (of the maximum pulse) Upper pulse limit 65 %

Suitable for long workouts with little exertion.

• the fat burning workout zone (FAT - B) Lower pulse limit 55 %

Upper pulse limit 75 %

Suitable for athletes who would like to burn fat.

Suitable for athletes who would like to improve their performance and endurance while burning an elevated amount of calories.

1. To select between INDIV, HEALTH, FAT - B and AROBIC in the top display segment, push the “ST./STP.” button 2 or the “SELECT” button 4 .

2. To confirm your selection, push the “MODE” button 5 . The pulse measured for the lower pulse limit (LOWER) blinks and is shown in % of the maximum pulse to the right.

The pulse measured for the upper pulse limit (UPPER) blinks and is shown in % of the maximum pulse to the right.

“BELOW Alarm” blinks on the display 3 .

As soon as at least one of the alarms is activated, will appear in the middle of the display.

“TARGET STEP” blinks on the display.

11. To determine how many steps you would like to set as your workout goal, push the “ST./STP.” button (forward) or

“SELECT” button (back).

The default step goal is 10,000. Above 1,000 steps, the figure is set in increments of 1,000 steps. Under 1,000 steps, the figure is set in in- crements of 100 steps.

To configure workout zones and goals again, push the

“MODE” button.

You will get back to the setting for the workout zone.

12. To save your settings, hold the “MODE” button down for approx. 3 seconds.

• If your pulse is within your workout zone, a short beep sounds and is shown in the middle of the display.

• If your pulse is above the set upper pulse limit, three beeps will sound as a warning and will appear in the middle of the display.

• If your pulse is below the set lower pulse limit, two beeps will sound as a warning and will appear in the mid- dle of the display.

Progress indicator

The progress indicator on the left of the display 3 shows you in all function modes how much progress you have made in terms of the goal you set. Once you have reached the num- ber of steps you set as a goal, all four segments will be shown.

A signal will also sound every 10 seconds.

− To turn off the acoustic sound prematurely, push any button.

If you have set your target number of steps to 0, the acoustic sound function is deactivated.

Workout

− To start the workout, push the “ST./STP.” button 2 in workout mode.

Depending on the selected indicator, “SP” (speed), “DI”

(distance) or “PC” (pace) will start blinking on the bottom right.

As soon as the pulse watch has recorded more than 10 steps, the workout time will start and workout data such as distance, steps, calories burned will be tracked.

If you briefly pause the workout, the workout time will stop.

As soon as the pulse watch has registered more than 10 steps, the workout time will continue to be tracked and the workout data will continue to be recorded.

− To access your workout records, push the “SELECT” button 4 .

• To obtain meaningful records of the calories burned and your fat burned, it is important that you correctly enter your weight in the basic settings (see chapter “Performing basic settings”).

• The distance is calculated by multiplying the set stride length and number of steps cov- ered. The distance shown is more accurate the closer the stride length entered in the

• The speed will be shown more precisely the closer the stride length entered in the basic settings is to your actual stride length (see chapter “Performing basic settings”) and the more consistent the interval of the individual steps is.

Resetting the records

− To reset the recorded workout data to zero, push the

“SELECT” button 4 for approx. 3 seconds while you are in

“WORK” mode.

If you set the daily reset to “ON” in the basic set- tings, the pulse watch will automatically reset your workout records to zero every night at 3 a.m. (see chapter “Performing basic settings”).

Sleep mode

You can measure your sleep cycles in hours and minutes with the pulse watch. If you wear the pulse watch while sleeping, it will record how long you sleep and the quality.

− Push the “MODE” button 5 until “SLEEP” appears in the

Activating sleep mode

1. To activate sleep mode, push the “ST./STP.” button 2 . The “START” indicator will appear in the upper display segment.

After approx. 2 seconds, the current sleep time will appear in the top display segment and the deep sleep time will appear in the bottom display segment.

− To view the current time, push the “MODE” button 5 . The display 3 will be lit for approx. 5 seconds while the date and time are shown. The pulse watch will then

2. To stop the current sleep time, hold the “ST./STP.” button down for approx. 3 seconds.

The “STOP” indicator will appear in the upper display segment and then the sleep time will be shown in hours, minutes and seconds.

The hours and minutes spent in deep sleep will be shown in the lower display segment.

Accessing your sleep records

You can view and compare the times spent in deep sleep for 7 days.

1. In sleep mode, push the “SELECT” button 4 when the sleep time is not currently being recorded.

The top display segment will show you the weekday and the corresponding sleep time.

The bottom display segment will show the duration of your deep sleep phase on the selected weekday.

2. To select an earlier weekday, push the “ST./STP.” button 2 . 3. To exit the sleep record indicator, push the “SELECT”

button.

Configuring automatic sleep mode

You can also configure the pulse watch so that it activates sleep mode for the same time frame every day.

“AUTO” will appear in the top display segment. “ON” or

“OFF” will appear in the bottom display segment.

2. Push the “ST./STP.” button 2 or “SELECT” button 4 to select “ON”.

3. Push the “MODE” button to confirm your selection.

The indicator “SLEEP START” will appear in the upper dis- play segment.

The hours will blink.

4. To set the hour when sleep mode should be automatically activated, push the “ST./STP.” button (forward) or the

“SELECT” button (back).

5. Confirm your selection with the “MODE” button.

The minutes will blink.

7. Push the “MODE” button to confirm your selection.

The indicator “WAKE” will appear in the upper display segment.

The hours will blink.

8. To set the hour when sleep mode should be automatically deactivated, push the “ST./STP.” button (forward) or the

“SELECT” button (back).

9. Confirm your selection with the “MODE” button.

11. To save your settings, hold the “MODE” button down for approx. 3 seconds.

Sleep mode will now be automatically activated and deacti- vated at the same times every day.

Deactivating automatic sleep mode

1. Hold down the “MODE” button 5 for approx. 3 seconds.

The “AUTO” indicator will appear in the upper display seg- ment. “ON” will appear in the bottom display segment.

2. Push the “ST./STP.” button 2 or “SELECT” button 4 to select “OFF”.

3. Hold down the “MODE” button for approx. three seconds.

Automatic sleep mode has now been deactivated.

Stop watch mode

− To access stop watch mode, push the “MODE” button 5 until “CHRONO” appears in the top display segment.

Time measurement addition

1. To start time measurement, push the “ST./STP.” button 2 . 2. To stop time measurement, push the “ST./STP.” button

again.

3. To resume the time measurement at the recorded time, push the “ST./STP.” button again.

− To reset the time to zero, stop the stop watch and hold the

“SELECT” button 4 down for approx. 3 seconds.

Recording interim time

1. To start time measurement, push the “ST./STP.” button 2 . 2. To show an interim time, push the “SELECT” button 4 .

The “SPLIT” indicator will appear in the upper display segment.

The stop watch will continue to record while the interim time is shown on the display 3 .

3. Push the “SELECT” button again to show the active stop watch.

4. To stop time measurement, push the “ST./STP.” button again.

5. To reset the stop watch to zero again, hold the “SELECT”

button down for approx. 3 seconds.

Alarm mode

− Push the “MODE” button 5 until “ALARM” appears in the top display segment.

Hour alarm

− To have a short acoustic signal sound every full hour, set

“CHIME” to “ON” in the basic settings (see chapter “Per- forming basic settings”).

Daily alarm

1. To set an individual time for the daily alarm, hold the

“MODE” button 5 down for approx. 3 seconds.

The hours will blink.

2. To set the hour, push the “ST./STP.” button 2 (forward) or

“SELECT” button 4 (back).

4. To set the minutes, push the “ST./STP.” button (forward) or the “SELECT” button (back).

5. To save your settings, hold the “MODE” button down for approx. 3 seconds.

A 30-second alarm will now activate every day at the set time.

− To deactivate the alarm, push any button.

− To deactivate and reactivate the daily alarm, go into alarm mode and push the “ST./STP.” button or the “SELECT”

button.

“AL OFF” or “AL ON” is shown in the top display segment.

Based on the alarm symbol in the bottom right of the display 3 you can determine whether the alarm is activated in any mode.

Timer mode

− If you would like to set the countdown back to the initial time, hold the “SELECT” button 4 down for approx. 3 seconds.

If you have set multiple timers, the second timer will start as soon as the first timer has reached 0:00 etc.

Power saving mode

The pulse watch has a power saving mode. In power saving mode, the display 3 is switched off to preserve battery power.

Changing the battery

To ensure that your pulse watch is water-tight, it is recom- mended that you have the batteries changed by a watch specialist or at our service point. If, however, you would like to change the battery yourself, proceed as follows:

1. Use a screwdriver to remove the four screws 7 on the cover 8 located on the back of the pulse watch.

2. Open the battery holder 11 by carefully prying the clamping bracket over the locking hook 9 .

3. Insert a new CR2032-type 3 V battery 10 with the positive

− No accione los botones con el reloj de pulsera mojado. A través de los botones puede entrar agua en la carcasa, y dañar el mecanismo de relojería.

− Tenga en cuenta que las aguas termales y la salada pue- den corroer las piezas metálicas.

− Se recomienda no entrar en el sauna con el reloj de pulse- ra, puesto que se puede condensar agua por la diferencia de temperatura y dañar así el reloj de pulsera.

− Al nadar o bajo un chorro de agua (p. ej. en la ducha o en el lavabo), se pueden generar picos de presión. El reloj de pulsera se carga mucho más en los puntos pertinentes de lo que permite suponer la profundidad de inmersión.

Solo a partir de la clasificación de 50 m (160 pies), se puede hablar de un reloj estanco al agua (permite la ducha).

− La estanquidad al agua no es una propiedad permanente, puesto que los elementos de estanquidad integrados re- ducen su funcionalidad con el uso cotidiano, o se pueden ver afectados también por golpes o caídas.

Un buen método para averiguar la longitud media de su paso es caminar o correr una distancia fija (p. ej. 328 pies (100 metros)) y contar los pasos. Entonces divida la distancia entre el número de pasos y convierta los pies en pulgadas.

Introduzca la longitud del paso tanto al caminar como al correr con independencia de si solo desea caminar o correr. Así obtendrá el resultado más relevante. De lo contrario, el reloj de pulsera usará valores estándar que no responden a su perfil de movimiento personal.

Modos de funcionamiento principal

El reloj de pulsera dispone de siete modos de funcionamiento principal.

− Para cambiar entre los modos de reloj, entrenamiento, sueño, cronómetro, alarma y temporizador, presione el botón “MODE” 5 .

− Para acceder al modo de pulso, coloque el índice sobre la superficie del sensor 1 mientras lleva el reloj de pulsera en la muñeca.

Modo de pulso

El reloj de pulsera mide el pulso a través de la parte trasera de la carcasa que, al mismo tiempo, sirve de superficie de contacto.

− Para poder medir el pulso, lleve puesto el reloj de pulsera de forma que la parte trasera de la carcasa esté en contac- to con la muñeca.

− Para acceder al modo de pulso, mantenga presionado unos 5–8 segundos la superficie del sensor 1 con inde- pendencia del modo en que se encuentre.

El display 3 pasa a mostrar el pulso.

Tras una breve fase de medición, el display le indica su pulso actual.

El valor grande del centro es el pulso medido en ese mo- mento. El pequeño porcentaje a la derecha muestra el porcentaje medido de su pulso máximo.

Tras unos 5 segundos, el display vuelve al modo en que estaba el reloj de pulsera antes de medir el pulso.

• Al medir el pulso, coloque el índice justo sobre la superficie del sensor. Lo mejor es que apoye plana y estable la parte central de la falange distal del dedo, y que se asegure de que el reloj de pulsera esté bien asentado sobre la muñeca.

• Los dedos muy fríos o con mala circulación pueden influir en la medición del pulso.

• Con la piel muy seca o con el antebrazo muy velludo, se recomienda humedecer el dedo y

Detección del pulso máximo

Para averiguar correctamente el pulso máximo, es necesario que indique su año de nacimiento en la configuración básica (véase el capítulo “Configuración básica”).

El pulso máximo se calcula así:

Configuración de las zonas de entrenamiento y los objetivos

En la parte superior del display, parpadea la indicación de la zona de entrenamiento (ajuste básico: “HEALTH”), y en la inferior “ZONE”.

Ahora puede elegir una zona de entrenamiento. Con la zona de entrenamiento, determina el límite inferior y superior de pulso adecuado para el entrenamiento.

Los límites inferiores y superiores de pulso se orientan en función del pulso máximo. Sepa cómo averiguar su pulso máximo en el capítulo

“Detección del pulso máximo”.

El reloj de pulsera dispone de una zona de entrenamiento
