A new complex phosphate K1.84Fe1.42Nb0.58(PO4)3 has been synthesized by the self-flux technique. The X-ray sin- gle crystal structure and magnetic properties were studied.

The compound crystallizes in the cubic system with space groupP213 (a= 9.9404(10) ˚A) and belongs to the langbei- nite structure type. The structure contains [M2P3O18] build- ing units. “Closed” fragments [M8P9O60] provide space for location of two potassium atoms. Antiferromagnetic interac- tions were detected at low temperatures which originate from superexchange through aM(1)–O–P–O–M(2) pathway with correspondingJ=−5.5(1) cm1. The relationship between the UV/vis absorption and the structure is discussed.

At 4.2 K an increase in line width indicates small hyperfine fields at the europium nuclei.. Key words: Europium Compounds, Mixed Valence, Magnetism,

The Eu 2+ signal shows a slightly enhanced line width at 4.2 K, indicative of a very small hyperfine field and the onset of magnetic ordering, in agreement with the magnetic data..

The magnetic structures are both defined by a propagation vector k = (1/2, 0, 1/2), and can be described as an array of ferromagnetic layers of Co(Ni) moments, perpendicular to

The crystal structure consists of ordered dinuclear units with Cu II and Mn II ions bridged by two oxygen atoms of the Schiff base ligand.. The coordination around the Mn II ion is
