Liebe Lehrperson,
das vorliegende Materialpaket behandelt schwerpunktmäßig Australiens einzigartige Tierwelt, die durch die verheerenden Waldbrände im Jahr 2019 stark bedroht ist.
In Australien wird am 26. Januar der Australia Day als nationaler Feiertag gefeiert und ich nutze den Monat Januar gern, um den SchülerInnen im Englischunterricht das Land, den Kontinent Australien und seine landesspezifischen Gegebenheiten näherzubringen und ihnen die exotische Tierwelt vorzustellen.
Einen möglichen Einstieg bietet hier das Storytelling, welches zahlreiche Unterrichtsaktivitäten zur Textarbeit bietet. Das Material ist angelehnt an das australische Kinderbuch „Possum Magic“ von Mem Fox, da die im Buch vorkommenden Tiere, Orte und Köstlichkeiten auch hier im Material wiederzufinden sind. Es kann aber auch unabhängig vom Buch eingesetzt werden, da es nicht nur Australiens bekanntesten Tiere vorstellt, sondern auch über Australiens
Geographie und die landestypische Küche informiert.
Das Materialpaket enthält verschiedene reading und writing activities wie zum Beispiel Lesespiele oder das Schreiben eines Tierrätsels. Es ist konzipiert für den Einsatz in den Klassenstufen 3 bis 5 und als Freiarbeitsmaterial einsetzbar. Lösungsblätter für die Selbstkontrolle sind ebenfalls vorhanden.
